The McBride Family

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

A few days before Christmas I got a call from a family who wanted to do some pics while they were all together for the holidays. So they drove in from out of town and I met them at the Old State Capital downtown. There was a ton of them, but all went well...(a lot smoother than I thought it would when I heard there was gonna be 8 kids, I have to admit!!)
They were my last session of 2010 and I want to thank them for driving so far for me to take their pictures!

Helping Haiti...

Thursday, February 11, 2010

I recently discovered .Photographers for Haiti. It is a group of photographers from across the country that have come together to donate their time and talent to help the people of Haiti. And I'm proud to say that I am one of them.

*Danita's Children is an orphanage in Haiti and is home to 75 children. Danita's mission is to rescue, love, and care for orphans.

Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world and home to over 450,000 orphans.
When Danita moved there in 1999 she knew that Haiti was a place in desperate need of orphan care.
Danita saw children in need everywhere she looked. There was no governmental infrastructure to help the children, no social organizations, and no shelter for the children to go to. Orphans were left to roam the streets, begging for food, and in the end, to repeat the cycle of poverty that left their parents either dead or too poor to care for them. She knew something had to be done.
Danita took in her first orphan in January of 2000. With his arrival, Hope for Haiti Children'sCenter became a reality.
Danita's Children/Hope for Haiti Children's Center is now home to 75 children and educates nearly 600 children at Hope for Haiti school.

Now Danita and her team are reaching out to help the children in Port au Prince. They have been able to rescue and take in many children who were affected by the earthquake. They've also been able to provide aid and housing for the children of some orphanages that collapsed during the earthquake. Danita's has become a place of refuge and hope for family members and their children who were displaced and had nowhere to go. They have taken in several 'children-in-waiting'...children who don't yet know if their family members survived the earthquake. Danita's is working with the Red Cross to re-unite these children with their families.

Just one more...

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Okay, so I had to post just one more picture from .The Miller Wedding. This is definitely one of my favorites!
These two little boys are so cute! They played these tambourines through the whole reception! They started out in front of the stage sharing one. But it didn't take long before they each had their own and they were on stage playing along with the band! They had the best time! And I really enjoyed watching them.
I wonder if maybe one day they will start their own band? =)

.The Miller Wedding.

Michael & Jessica got married on a sunny Saturday afternoon in November. It was a beautiful wedding! The weather was perfect, and the location was amazing! During the ceremony the sunlight shining through the trees gave everything a hazy glow, it was gorgeous! The reception was so much fun. They had a jazz band, and they danced their behinds off! I had so much fun watching them dance! I wasn't ready to leave when it was all over! Everything was so beautiful, and everybody was great. I'm so glad I was able to be a part of this special day.

Thank you, Michael & Jessica, for choosing me to capture your perfect day!

Here are just a few of my favorite moments from Jessica & Michael's special day..

**Special thanks to Alaina for doing such an awesome job as second shooter! You rock girl!

Today's the day...

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Wow, I can never find the time to get this thing started! Well...that, and I'm a serious procrastinator! But, I decided that today was the day...finally...that I would finish putting the blog together and get it going. And I couldn't think of a better place to start than with this family! The Simpson's. This is my sister-in-law and her husband and 3 of my almost-too-many-to-count nieces and nephews! One day I'll accomplish the impossible task of getting them all together and sitting still enough to get a big group shot! But for now I can at least get a few at a time! For these we went to the pumpkin patch. Notice that there are no pumpkins! I learned something that day...rubber boots are a must when visiting the pumpkin patch!! So, to avoid getting muddy, we spent our picture-taking-time there in the parking lot and on the steps of the little building next door! But, all went well, the pics came out great and we all got to pick out pumpkins to take home! Who could ask for anything more!!
